After cancer treatment in the pelvic area – such as for cervical, rectal, or vulvar cancer – many women experience changes in their intimate health. Radiation or surgery can make vaginal tissue drier, tighter, or more sensitive, which may cause discomfort during intimacy or medical examinations.
Vagiwell® vaginal dilators by Medintim provide gentle, medically guided support for vaginal rehabilitation. They help maintain tissue elasticity, reduce the risk of narrowing, and support comfort and confidence during recovery.
What Are Vaginal Dilators?
Vagiwell® dilators are smooth rods made of medical-grade silicone with a velvety surface. They are available in several sizes – from 12mm to 30mm – and in sets such as Premium, Small, Large, and special models for conditions like lichen sclerosus or neovagina therapy. Each set includes multiple dilators, a storage bag and a CE-marked
water-based lubricant.
Why Does the Tissue Change?
Radiation therapy, chemotherapy or pelvic surgery can affect healthy tissue alongside tumour cells. As the mucosa becomes thinner and the connective tissue less elastic, the vagina may shorten or narrow – leading to pain and dryness. Regular, gentle use of vaginal dilators helps maintain elasticity and mobility of the vaginal canal. They are also used under professional guidance for vaginismus, endometriosis, vaginal stenosis, or after vaginaloplasty.

- Apply a water-based lubricant (never silicone- or oil-based.
- Insert gently until slight pressure is felt. Hold for about 5 minutes, then slowly insert and remove a few times.
- Practice regularly – short daily sessions (5-10 minutes) are best.
- Progress gradually – move to the next size only when the current one feels comfortable.
- Clean again after use and store dry.
Always follow the advice of your doctor or pelvic physiotherapist.
