Founded in 1987 by Mrs. Gertrud Halberstadt, a woman well known in Frankfurt for her political and social activities, the gynecologist Dr. Knut Hoffmann (Karlsruhe/Germany) who was for decades opinion leader for contraception and barrier methods and Martin Kessel, the company was named PROFAMILIA Vertriebsgesellschaft – as company and sales division related to the German family planning association and NGO Pro Familia, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Familienplanung und Sexualberatung e.v. Until 1997 this company was located in Frankfurt/M Germany.

In 1997, CEO Martin Kessel took over the shares of the NGO members and continued the activities under the name KESSEL Marketing & Vertriebs GmbH.
Since November 1999 the company is located in 64546 Walldorf (Morfelden-Walldorf) nearby Frankfurt, Germany.
Since May 2014, the new company name and targets adopted the recent development and activities: KESSEL medintim GmbH.
KESSEL medintim GmbH researches, develops, manufactures and distributes medical devices for contraception and sexual healthcare.
Owner and CEO is Mr. Martin Kessel.
Mr. Lukas Distler joins into the company as vice-president with the power and can act in behalf of the company. For many years, Lukas Distler runs his own company DISTLER Medizintechnik www.distler.de.
Both companies work closely together and cooperate at development and manufacturing medical devices.

Since year 2005 KESSEL is certified according CE ISO 13485 as manufacturer for medical devices.
Main activity: Research, development and manufacturing of medical devices for sexual healthcare and contraception.
